Dapper Dan, I served with you on 11 for a short time in April or May. I remember we had fun on the BS frequency while on guard duty at night. My call sign while on the BS freq. was Cool Hand Luke. Do you remember messing with Purple Haze on the BS freq? Welcome home. I'm glad you are safe as well as all the Steel Tigers. Hope to see you at the 2012 reunion.

The US military presence in Iraq has ended. Earlier today, morning in Bagdad time, the Secretary of Defense and the Commander of all US Forces in Iraq cased the colors of the senior US headquarters. The was a short speech, but no big celebration. The Steel Tigers, 1-77 Armor, has already or will soon case it's colors, and take the first available planes home to Ft. Bliss. This morning, there were only about 4,000 US military in Iraq. Also, the commander of the first Steel Tigers deployment, a member of the top staff, will also be returning. This will end COL David Hubner's second tour and the Steel Tigers fourth tour to Iraq. Welcome home, all Steel Tigers. You have completed your job.

Linda,

I was in the same platoon as David (3rd) and was on a different tank that night we lost your uncle just outside of Khe Sanh. I would be glad to talk with you via email or any way you wish. If you want to talk via phone, please email me and I will give you my phone nuber. I don't know if I can answer all your questions but many of our members served with him from Ft. Carson CO. to Vietnam.I was fairly close with David as he was our Platoon Leaders driver and I was the Platoon SGT's diver. David was a few years older than me but we had some fantastic times together. We talk of him often at our reunions and is still missed by the men that served with him. I miss him, love him but we SHALL meet again.

Kevin Dunne, President 1-77 Armor Assn.

I was asked by a good friend if I could help him get information on where returning vets get the information before returning to civilian life. Can any of you help me as to web sites or where I can get information that a vet might go to before getting out?

The next two paragraphs are quote from the team leader Rick Lamprecht If any of you can help with information please e mail me.

This project was envisioned after watching a news segment a couple of weeks ago indicating that returning veterans can have difficult experiences transitioning into civilian work environments. They want to help in some meaningful way, and are searching for the best manner in which they may offer their volunteer resources.
The experiences of their team include leading businesses, university teaching, and small business entrepreneurship. All of their team are veterans, . All of them have the desire to help and provide good business connections that may be helpful to deserving returning military personnel.

Thanks Gerry Dubois

Tyler,

I met you a few years back at 1-77 AR reunion in Louisville. Thank you for following in your grandfathers footsteps. Joe D. was my 1SG at Ft. Carson and in Nam '68. I keep in close contact with your grandparents and Sue (my spouse) and I love them dearly. He was very instumental in my coming home from across the big pond. We had GREAT leadership in the 1-77 and for that I am truly grateful.
Until we meet again stay well with thoughts and prayers for you and your comrades for a safe return home to your loved ones.

God Speed...................Bandit
