Hello Alan:

Nice to hear from you after all these years. I hope to see you at our next reunion in November 2007. You will see many of your old friends, but we all look different of course.

I'll be pleased to post your picutures on the web site. Please give me whatever information you remember and we will all put our heads together at the reunion to fill in the blanks.

Welcome back to the Steel Tigers!

Hello, does anyone have any pictures of 1st Lt. Bob Lung, C company Jul 69 - Jul 70 (second platoon I think). His nephew signed the Steel Tigers quest book a few week ago asking if anyone knew his uncle (Bob Lung). I knew him but I don't have any pictures of him. When I attended the 2001 reunion, I know I saw some good pictures of him, so I know someone has some although they may not know it. If anyone knew him or has pictures, please contact his newphew Kirk, apperantly Lt. Lung passed away last fall without ever taking about Vietnam.

Thanks,
R. Sutton C company Jul 69 - Jul 70

Alan, welcome. I believe the LT's name was Wm. McGahee that was on A31. I also was there 4/25/69 when we lost Lacey. I was driver of A34. At this point I don't remember you but I am sure now that you are back with us something will trigger the old memory. Hope all is well and good to hear from a fellow comrade from so long ago.

Wow! Just thought to search for 1/77 and found this - and I am a senior computer research engineer!! Hello LT Winslow - I remember you! I was on A31 from Mar69-Oct69(or so, as 31L then 31G) then over to 33G with SGT Hutchinson. I was shanghaied for the first 2 months in country by the 4.2 mortar dudes up on the hill at LZ Sharon. I met Cpt Brown once again in Germany while I was in Sullivan Barracks with the 5/68 Armor in 1976. I was at Long Vei when we were overrun 4/25/69 and SP5 Lacey (our driver on 31) was killed. The LT lost his eardrums that night and was sent away - can't remember his name (always called him "LT".

I have finally gotten around to scanning my 200ish color slides (Kodak Instamatic, not a real camera) before they degrade any farther, Many already look poor from chemical changes. LT Winslow, I will burn a CD of them when done and send it to you if you like. You may better remeber some of the locations since I had no idea where we were most of the time.

There was a program on the Military Channel last night called Tank Battle Vietnam. Although the program was about the 69th Armor's engagement with some PT 76's some of the footage of tanks in Vietnam was of the 77th. In some of the footage the bright red diamond was clearly seen on the shoulder patches and on some of the tanks. I believe from seeing other pictures of tanks in Vietnam that we were one of the only armor units to mount the TC's .50 cal externally. The footage also showed tanks with the same configuration of the .50. I am going to contact the Military channel to see if I can get in contact with the producers of that film. Maybe they have additional footage.

I was thinking about everyone today as I read the comments. I would like to say thanks to Bob Rushforth for all the help he has given my wife Kathy and I over the past few years. Bob has been helping us as we hike the appalachian trail north. He was able to hike several days with us in October 2005 and has supported us on the trail from New York to Vermont in October of 2006. We have hike from Georgia to Bennington Vermont, only 550 miles left to go to Mount Katadin in Maine.
Thanks again to Bob and his family for all the help and fellowship he has provided. A true friend. Dan Bowden C/Co.1/77th RVN 1968

I spoke with John Kirby last night by phone. For those who remember him, he is doing well. John was a member of A Company's 2nd platoon during 1968-69.
